USA Wins Murderball Gold
The United States wheelchair rugby team beat the Australian team yesterday at the Paralympic Games in Beijing.
Murderball has gotta be really empowering for the participants. For one thing, it's a sport that able bodied people watch and think, "that looks like a lot of fun", because, to be perfectly honest, it looks like bumper cars. Is that bad to say? For another thing, it really must be fun to use a wheelchair, which can be seen as something confining, as an instrument of destruction, or at the very least, organized chaos.

You all need to see the movie
if you haven’t already. It rules.

I like that it's called Murderball
and Professor Charles Xavier would kick serious ass at it (metaphorically).
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

What matto619 said...
Murderball is one of the best sports documentaries you’ll ever see. Not only will it give you a new respect for quad rugby players (and make you want to follow the sport full-time, not just during the Paralympics); it will make you angry that para-athletes don’t get more media time and/or respect.
As it is, I’m FURIOUS that NBC isn’t showing any Paralympics coverage on Universal Sports until October. WHY?!
Regardless. I’m thrilled USA got the gold back. Way to go, boys!
P.S. The above clip doesn’t begin to show how intense quad rugby can be, so don’t judge the sport by it if you haven’t seen the movie or a game.
