Calling All Pro Wrestling & MMA Writers: Cageside Seats is looking for new posters
I don't wanna do a wholesale lift of Kelvin's similar post with regards to MMA4Real, but most of the general ideas apply. Cageside Seats is SBN's pro wrestling/MMA for wrestling fans/pro wrestling for MMA fans blog. We need more writers to cover pro wrestling and MMA. It's fine if you'd rather write about one or the other, but if you wanna write about both, that's even better. If you wanna write more about MMA, it's preferable if you've been a wrestling fan at some point, as we'd like to have the "wrestling perspective" of the news when possible, but it's not a must. Wrestling-wise, we definitely need recappers for the main TV shows (WWE Raw, Smackdown, and NXT, plus TNA Impact. ROH on HDNet and WWE Superstars, as well as the indy shows on regional sports networks and America One would be great, too, but aren't as high a priority.), so a sample recap would be a good start, though it doesn't have to be the only thing you write about. It's a bonus if you write like the opposite of Todd Martin. Anything about Brock Lesnar, whether it's about UFC or old WWE stuff, is always good. Keeping on top of the more obscure but interesting news items would be great. Basically, keep an eye on what we've been doing and help us do more of it. Being part of SBN, this is a potentially great opportunity if you want to write about this stuff. Just look at the growth of Bloody Elbow et al.
Now, back to lifting Kelvin's post (sorry Kelvin, it's easier this way):
1. Register as a member of Cageside Seats.
2. Begin posting FanShots and most importantly, FanPosts. There is a 75 word minimum to FanPosts, but don't go crazy with a 5 page essay or anything. If your post is good and relevant, we'll promote it to the front page.
3. Email me (davidbix+cagesideseats@gmail.com) with your screen name to tell me you are interested so I'll know who's interested in joining us. Also, so I can recognize the fanpost/fanshots you are putting up.
4. I'll need you to post consistently for about 2 weeks or so. This'll give me an idea of what you bring to the table.
Show us what you've got!
Joey Chestnut: The Bay Area's most dominant athlete
SB Nation Bay Area launched this past week with a feature on the top 5 most popular Bay Area athletes. In a complete brainfart, I did not include Joey Chestnut, resident of San Jose by way of Vallejo. I felt bad about it, but made sure to make up for it today with some info on his continued run as the greatest hot dog eating champion of all time.
It was a crazy day with Kobayashi electing not to participate because of his contract dispute. Even more amazing was that he showed up to watch the event, and then was detained by police when he tried to climb onto the stage after Chestnut cruised to his victory.
Chestnut didn't break the record, as he was hoping, but without Kobayashi to push him to new heights, he had an easy run to victory. It's safe to say he's the most dominant athlete in the Bay Area!
Today is the first day of the WSOP / 57 tournaments in Las Vegas
Yes it is back and bigger than ever. It starts out with the 50,000 dollar buy in for the tournament which is now considered the best bracelet to win. The pros know they have very little chance of defeating close to 9000 people for the main event. They made a 50,000 buy in tourney. I actually might go down to vegas, (i live in lake tahoe) to actually play in one of the 1000 buy in tournaments. It would be a texas hold em tourney and it would be something to do and cross off my bucket list. I will keep you all informed. Btw my favorite poker game is omaha hi/lo.
Amazing Race, Jet and Cord are back from the CMA's edition
Just when the race is getting good it seems that no-one is watching. The last two stages have been much more action-packed than all previous stages.
I just checked the top 20 shows for this week and Survivor is 12th.
They have been steadily climbing b/c the season rank was 18th. So when they get to the final four i'm sure it will be a top 5 show. Only behind American Idol and Dancing With the Stars if those two shows go on as far as the finale for survivor. I don't watch either of those shows so i don't know when they end. This has been a most enjoyable season and if Russell does not win i would like Colby to win just b/c he was a nice guy and kinda handed it to the southern lady. He would deserve it if he won a few challenges along the way too. Let the best player win.
Russell outwits Boston Rob as i predicted.
The merge did not happen but Russell has proven he is the best there is. the others will fall in line. Whoever russell wants voted off will be gone. Expect Sandra to try to save her butt next week. This is a great season and even rupert looks like he got his second wind or his toe has healed up enough. Judging by the promo for next week i say sandra or coach are next. I can't wait.
The LA Urban Iditarod: drunks, shopping carts, and costumes
For the uninitiated, the Urban Iditarod is an event where young people dress up in costumes (equivalent of 'dogs') and push shopping carts (the 'sled') full of beer and other sundries through a city, causing a ruckus and having fun. It's pretty big in Portland and is similar to San Fran's Bay to Breakers. I've been going to the LA version for the past few years and was lucky (?) enough to survive another experience earlier this month.

Amazing Race, nobody's watching edition
Apparently, nobody watched this week’s Amazing Race because the NCAA tourney knocked it around on the TV schedule. My DVR recorded Katie Couric interviewing Rahm Emmanuel, and about 15 minutes of The Amazing Race, but I watched the full episode online here.
These legs always seem shorter when they don’t have to fly somewhere or take a train or something in order to bunch all of the teams back together. This particular leg did not even leave France, but it did teach us a couple of things. First, the French love to give Americans bad directions. Half of the teams were sent to the wrong town by seemingly well-intentioned locals. Second, when stacking champagne glasses, quickly is not the way to do it.
The part of me that secretly wants to watch Jerry Springer is eating up the relationship turmoil. I’m not sure which couple will implode first; the models or the lesbians. The models are doomed from the start because she’s stupid, and he’s not smart enough to pull up their average. The lesbians seem to have no affection for one another at all. At some point before the race began, they decided that the acrophobic brunette would do all of the height challenges. The only explanation for this is that the alpha female blond gets off on seeing her partner in terror. I am picturing a lot of bondage going on at their house, though I am not picturing it in too much detail because the blond is like Ellen Degeneres’ ugly old aunt, and the brunette, though not unattractive, is no Portia De Rossi. At the end of the race, they confidently state that they are going to be the first all-female team to win the whole thing. Not a chance.
Baseball dad crunches his car and has to do a quick duct-tape repair, which was just fantastic. Props to his wife for packing the duct tape. Kudos also to the daughter for refusing to drive the car forward with his hand in the wheel well. He may know baseball, but apparently the women in his life keep him from being listed on the Darwin awards.
In the end, the cops win again because no-one is given much of a chance to catch up to them, and they find the one man in all of France who actually is helpful to Americans. Jordan and Jeff (Team Big Brother) get eliminated because they are actually dumber than Team We’re not just Dumb Models (yes you are), even thought the models do their best to be eliminated.

Special Wednesday Edition of Survivor.
It said on the promo that both tribes goto tribal council and two people get voted off. What that tells me is the week after they will probably merge. i expect james to go down on the hero tribe and boston rob to get voted off the villian tribe. This is turning into my favorite season of survivor. I like how they are portraying rupert as a follower and kinda in a negative light. This man could do no wrong on his first two survivor's. There is an interesting side note to this show. depending on who lasts longer either rupert or boston rob will have won the most money from survivor. remember rupert won i think it was a 1 million dollar fan favorite vote.
Who will be voted off tonight's episode of survivor?
If it's the villians that win i say that james and his big mouth with toungue lash everyone and piss everyone off and he will be voted off. If the heroes win i say that russell can either get coach or boston rob of the show. I have supreme confidence of russell getting his way and swaying the women''s vote in his favor. This is turning out to be the best survivor so far. Keep up the good work cbs. I have not checked out the nubers this season for survivor but i'll guess they are up and will climb as the season wears on.
