The girl that was in "Facts of life" is in this upcoming cast of Survivor.

I think her name is Lisa Welchel. She played the snobby girl on that show. I also think a former Miss Teen Utah is in the cast. Quite a few attractive woman in this cast. I think i watch this year b/c it might be entertainig. I for one wish they would do a cold weather survivor. They could shoot it in the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. Thats about 100 miles south of Anchorage. If they shot it in early springtime it would not be that cold either. At night it would be 30's but the days would be high 50's and low 60's. Plenty of bugs, forests, a big river and lots of wildlife. It would be different.

First episode of Survivor.

Very Entertaining first episode. I'm sure the government is quite embarassed by the actions of their former federal agent. That guy came across as just plain clueless about everything about the game. Worse was him wearing that off-pink underwear. It 's obvious who the first three off of Rob's team(the federal agent and the woman with the idol and francesca) are going to be. Francesca was the first voted off to goto redemption island. My favorite player Russell helped the other tribe win. He already has one of the ladies he needs and by next week i think he gets another and finds the hidden immunity idol. Sorry i'm not good at names but it looks like a few of the guys(on Russells team) have there eyes set on voting Russell of first but we have seen Russell in action before and i think he gets a few others on his side and just manipulates as he as always done. Definitely on Team Russells side. I thought everything was good about the first episode except for the what "ifs" about past contestants if they were to make it on redemption island. I hope they only do this for this week. I'm surprised nobody is doing the Survivor article's on this blog this year. Russell added a tattoo. lol.

The big night is fast approaching.

February 16th 2011. The journey which is "Survivor" will have it's new season begin this Wednesday. Now that Russell and Rob are both going to be on the show this will make me watch this entire season. Redemption Island is a place where you can be voted off but still have a chance to get back in the game. Another new twist to the game. I would guess there might only be one immunity idol for the entire game or maybe none at all.

Paintball World Championships in Las Vegas

I'm heading out to the Paintball Championships in Las Vegas tomorrow and I thought it would be fun to post some pics and updates on here. The Las Vegas tournament is the fourth and final tournament in the NPPL list of yearly events. There are five divisions in the tournament with prize money being paid out to the top 4 teams in each division. Played at the Riviera Hotel in downtown Sin City the event should be fun to see beyond just the top teams compete the newest products provided by the vendors. I'm looking forward to checking out the new .50 caliber guns.

For those wishing to avoid paying the penance of visiting a city based on immoral self indulgence the NPPL has provided a streaming video so one can indulge themselves from home. Unfortunately the link isn't up yet so I will update it when it becomes available.

I don't wanna do a wholesale lift of Kelvin's similar post with regards to MMA4Real, but most of the general ideas apply. Cageside Seats is SBN's pro wrestling/MMA for wrestling fans/pro wrestling for MMA fans blog. We need more writers to cover pro wrestling and MMA. It's fine if you'd rather write about one or the other, but if you wanna write about both, that's even better. If you wanna write more about MMA, it's preferable if you've been a wrestling fan at some point, as we'd like to have the "wrestling perspective" of the news when possible, but it's not a must. Wrestling-wise, we definitely need recappers for the main TV shows (WWE Raw, Smackdown, and NXT, plus TNA Impact. ROH on HDNet and WWE Superstars, as well as the indy shows on regional sports networks and America One would be great, too, but aren't as high a priority.), so a sample recap would be a good start, though it doesn't have to be the only thing you write about. It's a bonus if you write like the opposite of Todd Martin. Anything about Brock Lesnar, whether it's about UFC or old WWE stuff, is always good. Keeping on top of the more obscure but interesting news items would be great. Basically, keep an eye on what we've been doing and help us do more of it. Being part of SBN, this is a potentially great opportunity if you want to write about this stuff. Just look at the growth of Bloody Elbow et al.

Now, back to lifting Kelvin's post (sorry Kelvin, it's easier this way):

Joey Chestnut: The Bay Area's most dominant athlete

SB Nation Bay Area launched this past week with a feature on the top 5 most popular Bay Area athletes. In a complete brainfart, I did not include Joey Chestnut, resident of San Jose by way of Vallejo. I felt bad about it, but made sure to make up for it today with some info on his continued run as the greatest hot dog eating champion of all time.

It was a crazy day with Kobayashi electing not to participate because of his contract dispute. Even more amazing was that he showed up to watch the event, and then was detained by police when he tried to climb onto the stage after Chestnut cruised to his victory.

Chestnut didn't break the record, as he was hoping, but without Kobayashi to push him to new heights, he had an easy run to victory. It's safe to say he's the most dominant athlete in the Bay Area!

Today is the first day of the WSOP / 57 tournaments in Las Vegas

Yes it is back and bigger than ever. It starts out with the 50,000 dollar buy in for the tournament which is now considered the best bracelet to win. The pros know they have very little chance of defeating close to 9000 people for the main event. They made a 50,000 buy in tourney. I actually might go down to vegas, (i live in lake tahoe) to actually play in one of the 1000 buy in tournaments. It would be a texas hold em tourney and it would be something to do and cross off my bucket list. I will keep you all informed. Btw my favorite poker game is omaha hi/lo.

Amazing Race, Jet and Cord are back from the CMA's edition

Just when the race is getting good it seems that no-one is watching. The last two stages have been much more action-packed than all previous stages.

Just when the race is getting good it seems that no-one is watching. The last two stages have been much more action-packed than all previous stages.

In case you missed it, Team Misogynistic Lesbians was eliminated on the previous stage, having been U-turned by the extremely lucky models. The gloat-fest was almost unbearable. If you took a drink every time "Air with Hair" said "I’m the last girl" on this episode, you’d need your stomach pumped and a transfusion. Don’t get me wrong, they deserved to go, and I don’t care that it would have been more logical to have u-turned the cowboys. TML was just too mouthy and nasty, even with each other. The lesson to be learned here is "Don’t piss off the cops". Come to think of it, that’s a pretty good lesson for life in general.

The first challenge for this stage was making noodles. The cowboys, of course, figured out the trick fairly quickly, while Tiara girl made a huge mess. She’s going to make someone a really nice trophy wife someday, as long as there is some kind of household staff involved. Team Models got lucky here because the cops and team Gaybros got the crappiest cab drivers in Singapore, and arrived at the challenge too late to catch up. The cop most likely to wait in the car on a foot pursuit mucked around with it forever, but was still able to kick Gaybro’s butt.

The second challenge was to properly outfit some hungry-looking model based on a sketch. I really thought the cowboys might be in trouble here, but they got through it with very little problem, allowing them to stay ahead of team vacuous, even though they were in their element on this challenge. Team Gaybros caught up to the cops, and were hampered in their wardrobe selection only by the fact that the cops had grabbed the stockings that they were supposed to be using because colorblindness will not keep you off the force.

Two road blocks on this one, and the next challenge was to put together a huge puzzle that was apparently made of kites, then pass it around to people in the stands to reveal a seat number. The "I’m with her" dude looked like he was catching up to Cord on the puzzle until the wind kicked up and blew puzzle pieces all over the place. His strategy of throwing up his hands in disgust and whining repeatedly was not nearly as effective as Cord’s strategy of throwing himself onto the puzzle, then grabbing everything in sight to hold down his puzzle pieces. Colorblindness once again derailed the cops, as Officer Humongous struggled mightily to get his puzzle together. I find it hard to believe this guy has ever solved a crime when there wasn’t a confession involved.

In the end, the Cowboys were in their customary first place position, the models, still rolling on luck, pulled up second, Gaybros third, and the cops last. Unbelievably, this was a non-elimination round, so they’ll all be back next week.

I just checked the top 20 shows for this week and Survivor is 12th.

They have been steadily climbing b/c the season rank was 18th. So when they get to the final four i'm sure it will be a top 5 show. Only behind American Idol and Dancing With the Stars if those two shows go on as far as the finale for survivor. I don't watch either of those shows so i don't know when they end. This has been a most enjoyable season and if Russell does not win i would like Colby to win just b/c he was a nice guy and kinda handed it to the southern lady. He would deserve it if he won a few challenges along the way too. Let the best player win.

The merge did not happen but Russell has proven he is the best there is. the others will fall in line. Whoever russell wants voted off will be gone. Expect Sandra to try to save her butt next week. This is a great season and even rupert looks like he got his second wind or his toe has healed up enough. Judging by the promo for next week i say sandra or coach are next. I can't wait.

The LA Urban Iditarod: drunks, shopping carts, and costumes

For the uninitiated, the Urban Iditarod is an event where young people dress up in costumes (equivalent of 'dogs') and push shopping carts (the 'sled') full of beer and other sundries through a city, causing a ruckus and having fun. It's pretty big in Portland and is similar to San Fran's Bay to Breakers. I've been going to the LA version for the past few years and was lucky (?) enough to survive another experience earlier this month.

I've been going to the LA version for the past few years and was lucky (?) enough to survive another experience earlier this month.

The day begins at a predetermined meeting point in Marina del Rey. It's barely noon and dozens of chuggers have showed up in borderline tasteless clothing.

My costume was not nearly as creative. I always knew Gingy was a lush. Within 30 minutes, wine bladders have been slapped and beers been shotgunned. The meeting spot is packed and it's time to begin the march.

With cheap alcohol running through everyone's veins and amid loud cries of "MUSH! MUSH! MUSH!", the 'race' is on.

via vvoice.vo.llnwd.net

The first stop is a bar a short run away. The management is not happy with our presence and tries to get rid of the crowd by employing a megaphone and blathering some nonsense about "private property." What a jerk. Some helpful Iditaroders inform him that the only way to get the group to disperse is to begin a countdown chant. Sure enough, after some people start yelling "THREE...TWO...ONE....MUSH!!!!!!!" we're off and running through the Venice canals to our next destination.

Ever wanted to know what a giant crowd of random costumed drunk 20-somethings looks like from the balcony of an apartment complex next to the Venice Boardwalk? Here it is!

From this vantage, we have: some Pamplona bull-runners, Greenman from It's Always Sunny, pilgrims, Pacman and ghosts, cross-dressers, and God knows what with that gold crucifix.

The drinking and general debauchery continues at this stop and at the next, a grass patch across from a bar on the Boardwalk.

The bad decisions start to mount at this point. A young lass, dressed as Snooki from Jersey Shore, thinks it'd be advisable to imbibe a mystery drink from a turkey baster.

This mingling is short-lived, though. Somebody called the cops and it's time to bounce.

Which is a real shame because this dude showed up with a parrot.

The last stop is at a dog park. This stop would be a quick one. Remember Snooki from before? Well, she ended up not having a very good day after taking that turkey baster shot.

BUSTED!!!!!

Once we all saw the handcuffs, nobody was in the mood to join Snooki in the clink so we took off. A good time was had by all, in any case. And I do recommend checking out the event if your city has one. Just don't drink out of a turkey baster and everything should be fine.

Amazing Race, nobody's watching edition

Apparently, nobody watched this week’s Amazing Race because the NCAA tourney knocked it around on the TV schedule. My DVR recorded Katie Couric interviewing Rahm Emmanuel, and about 15 minutes of The Amazing Race, but I watched the full episode online here.

These legs always seem shorter when they don’t have to fly somewhere or take a train or something in order to bunch all of the teams back together. This particular leg did not even leave France, but it did teach us a couple of things. First, the French love to give Americans bad directions. Half of the teams were sent to the wrong town by seemingly well-intentioned locals. Second, when stacking champagne glasses, quickly is not the way to do it.

The part of me that secretly wants to watch Jerry Springer is eating up the relationship turmoil. I’m not sure which couple will implode first; the models or the lesbians. The models are doomed from the start because she’s stupid, and he’s not smart enough to pull up their average. The lesbians seem to have no affection for one another at all. At some point before the race began, they decided that the acrophobic brunette would do all of the height challenges. The only explanation for this is that the alpha female blond gets off on seeing her partner in terror. I am picturing a lot of bondage going on at their house, though I am not picturing it in too much detail because the blond is like Ellen Degeneres’ ugly old aunt, and the brunette, though not unattractive, is no Portia De Rossi. At the end of the race, they confidently state that they are going to be the first all-female team to win the whole thing. Not a chance.

Baseball dad crunches his car and has to do a quick duct-tape repair, which was just fantastic. Props to his wife for packing the duct tape. Kudos also to the daughter for refusing to drive the car forward with his hand in the wheel well. He may know baseball, but apparently the women in his life keep him from being listed on the Darwin awards.

In the end, the cops win again because no-one is given much of a chance to catch up to them, and they find the one man in all of France who actually is helpful to Americans. Jordan and Jeff (Team Big Brother) get eliminated because they are actually dumber than Team We’re not just Dumb Models (yes you are), even thought the models do their best to be eliminated.

Apparently, nobody watched this week’s Amazing Race because the NCAA tourney knocked it around on the TV schedule. My DVR recorded Katie Couric interviewing Rahm Emmanuel, and about 15 minutes of The Amazing Race, but I watched the full episode online here.

Special Wednesday Edition of Survivor.

It said on the promo that both tribes goto tribal council and two people get voted off. What that tells me is the week after they will probably merge. i expect james to go down on the hero tribe and boston rob to get voted off the villian tribe. This is turning into my favorite season of survivor. I like how they are portraying rupert as a follower and kinda in a negative light. This man could do no wrong on his first two survivor's. There is an interesting side note to this show. depending on who lasts longer either rupert or boston rob will have won the most money from survivor. remember rupert won i think it was a 1 million dollar fan favorite vote.
