A French sky diver was hoping to break the world sky diving record this morning, but the balloon that was going to take him to new heights flew off without him.
The helium balloon Michel Fournier was going to use to soar to the stratosphere detached from the capsule he was going to use to jump from 130,000 feet, about 25 miles high.
I get the feeling that he started to chicken out and was looking for an excuse not to jump so he just detached the balloon.
I heard on the radio that without the protective suit, your blood will start to boil instantly at that height.
Fournier also said it wasn't just a stunt. He thought their might be a use in the future if astronauts need to jump out of the space shuttle in case of an emergency.
