The rules of Buzkashi are simple... elegant even.
Two teams of 10, all on horseback, surround a decapitated goat.
The first team that gets a rider to carry the goat around a nearby post and back into the scoring circle scores a point.
Play to some predetermined score or until the sun sets.
From what I can gather, most of the strategy involves actually getting ahold of the goat carcass, whether it be on the ground or being carried by some other rider.
I think a terrific American version of the sport could be made for kids. In my version, you get two teams of kids all on Big Wheels and you get a frozen whole chicken. Play according to the same rules. I'd be soooo down for watching a game of that.
